It is not about counting calories, doing cardio exercise, fab diets. But it is about understanding how the body works and what is inside our food. It is also about changing your lifestyle and mindset.

The Start

Some time ago, I have decided that before the next end of season sales for various boutique arrives, I will work hard to gain an ideal figure for my height.

The Reason for this decision:

With a proportional figure, I will not have to find clothes to hid my fat thighs, butt and tummy. I can wear almost everything. Having more choices at sales mean less headache and more purchases to fill out my closet. Clothes are never enough. So are shoes and bags. ;)

Secondly, I am tired of being fat. It was 13 years ago when I am skinny. Oh gosh! That sounds bad to me... 13 long years. That is more than half of my life! I need to lose the additional weight fast!

Here's how it all begin:

I quited my mind and body draining job and work as a freelancer IT Consultant to have more free time for myself. With the extra time, I started to figure out what are my next goals. Getting into shape is one of them.

I looked at websites that talks about diets, foods that will boost metabolism to lose weight, websites that explains what are the different type of exercises and training that are effective to burn fats. Feeling very confused to what really work and what would not work, I turn to the library. I found a book on weight loss, Fat Loss Plan by Matt Roberts.

This book looks simple to follow. There are nugget-sized theory on weight loss, how body burns off the fat with exercising. An easy read. Nice book to start my exercise routine with, I thought.

I started my fitness plan as instructed in the book, following the exercise plan only, as I am not the person doing the cooking at home. But I did try to improve my diet, by eating small but frequent meals. And of course I have Kellog's Special K with skim milk for my breakfast everyday. The exercise was quite hard on me at the beginning. I started with power walking as my cardio exercise part. Followed by the resistance trainings illustrated in the book. Lunges, squats, hamstring curls and crunches. Hamstring curls were killing me. I couldn't lift up my torse. (But not anymore..)

Along the way, I purchased some little 'toys' for my new fitness lifestyle. A bathroom weighing scale, my first sports bra, resistance tubes and a badminton racket.

But due to my fickle nature, I couldn't follow the plan for the whole term, 8 weeks. I repeated same exercises for the whole of the week.

After 4 weeks, I am still not losing any weight! I realise that I am not serious enough. So I researched on more strenous exercises that will help to burn fat faster. Now I am doing PHA together with jog-walk daily. I managed to lose 2 kilos in a month. But that is still not enough. I need to lose 10 more kilos before the sales which is about 2 months away. I need to step on it. Adjustment to my diet as well as my exercise plans are needed.
